Barton women’s soccer picks up 3-0 conference victory over Pratt
The Barton Community College women’s soccer team took care of a short-handed Pratt Community College squad winning 3-0 Tuesday at the Cougar Soccer Complex. Taking advantage of a stiff 25 mph wind, the Lady Cougars scored three first half goals improving to 2-0 in conference play and 2-2 overall while keeping Pratt winless at 0-4 and 0-6. Barton will have a week off from action until next Tuesday when the Lady Cougars travel to Overland Park for a 2:00 p.m. kick-off at Johnson County Community College.

The Lady Cougars were on the attack early and taking Nineth Fuentes only three minutes to find the back of the net hammering in Denise Cuenca rebound off Pratt goalkeeper Karen Duarte.
Cuenca continued the offensive attack drawing the defense then slipping a thru ball to Maria Rodriguez for the sophomore's first goal of the season with just over twenty-nine minutes left in the half.
Leading the Lady Cougars in scoring last season, Edith Scarlett Real finally broke into the scoring column with perhaps the easiest of her now twelve career goals. With Maria Munoz launching a free kick, Duarte made a diving save but fortunately for the Lady Cougars the ball deflected towards Real whose open net tap-in gave Barton the three goal lead with 16:25 left in first half play.
With the wind switch for the second half, Pratt has able to get a couple shots away but only one on frame as Maria-Elena Garcia recorded a one save victory. On the flip side, the Lady Cougars had multiple chances to add to its tally but Duarte came up with four of her seven saves.
