Barton’s Lomas awarded top conference goalkeeper for third time
For the third time in four weeks, Great Bend native Stephanie Lomas has been chosen as the KJCCC Verizon Wireless Goalkeeper of the Week. The Barton Community College women’s soccer goalkeeper didn’t face any shots in her 45 minutes of action last Tuesday against Independence Community College but made three big saves Saturday as the No. 20 ranked Lady Cougars tied at No. 14 Johnson County Community College. Lomas’ two surrendered goals came via backside goals, the first off a free kick and the second off a cross in the waning seconds of overtime. In conference play Lomas has only allowed seven goals and has recorded four shutouts which places her third all-time in the Barton history books with fourteen.
