Record performances key Cougars dominating 7-0 victory

Leading the Cougars in their highest output of the season was the freshmen duo of Bianca Barron and Mariana Poveda.  Barron, who leads the Barton attack, scored five goals tying her for the fifth best single game goal output, as well as, she tied the record for the fourth best points scored in a single contest as she added an assist late in the first half.  Poveda meanwhile contributed three assists to tie a number of former Lady Cougars for the fifth best assist game.

It took Barton midway through the first half to score until the first of three Poveda to Barron connections with twenty-four minutes to play would key five first half goals for the Cougars.  Barron scored her second goal as a result of a Jessica Rosenberg pass just three minutes later.  Poveda set up Barron for her third goal with twelve minutes remaining before Barron increased the lead to four with 4:43 remaining.  Great Bend native Kaylee Kershner gave Barton their 5-0 halftime lead a minute later off a Barron pass as the Cougars scored five goals withing twenty minutes.

The Poveda-Barron connection wound up their record setting game performance as Barron beat the Independence keeper with 27:36 to play in the contest.  Olimpia Bonilla rounded out the Cougar scoring from a Hallie Tasset pass with four minutes remaining as Barton closed out the contest with their largest margin of victory in the 2012 season.
