Barton Wrestling teched out in Goodland
The Barton Community College wrestling team picked up four victories Tuesday evening but was teched out of Goodland dropping both duals to No. 22 Cloud County Community College and host No. 5 Fort Hays Tech Northwest.
Jamal Garrett (125-pounds) gifted the Cougars' their lone lead of the evening opening the triangular with a 20-4 tech fall victory before eventually falling to the T-Birds 34-16. In the nightcap, Jarret Mader (141-pounds) produced Barton's lone victory with a 4:43 fall but were dealt a 42-6 defeat.
Concluding the regular season with a 1-6 conference mark and 3-16 overall record in duals, the Cougars will have a week of preparation before opening postseason play Saturday, February 14th at the NJCAA South Central District Championships held in Pratt, KS.
Mixing the lineup up battling sickness and injuries, freshman Colin Little filled the void for Mader in the opening dual at 149-pounds mending a 19-4 tech fall over Noah Bradley of Cloud County for his first dual win of the season.
Stepping in for Nathan Agudzi-Addo, freshman Logan Buchanan (285-pounds) fashioned a 1-1 night on the mat picking up his victory in the final bout with the T-Birds notching a 2:20 fall over Jayden Berry.
