Barton Wrestling drops home dual to No. 6 Pratt #GoBarton

The Barton Community College wrestling team dropped its final home conference dual of the season Tuesday night at the Barton Gym 42-9 to the 6th ranked Beavers of No. 8 Pratt Community College.

The loss drops Barton to 5-5 in conference duals with the Beavers sitting alone at the top at 8-0.

Barton will take a break from the dual season on Sautrday as the Cougars head to Miami, Oklahoma, for the NEO Duals. The Cougars resume dual action next Tuesday in Colby with a pair of matches against Labette Community College and Pratt Community College.

The Cougars lone victories in the scoring dual came from Drew Burgoon in the 141 division and Bryan Ford in the 174 division.

Burgoon led throughout his bout with Jacob Mitchell, getting a pair of first period takedowns to lead 4-2, another in the second for a 6-4 lead, then held off Mitchell in the third by trading takedowns while earning riding time for the for the final four point win improving to 7-3 on the year.

Ford improved his record to 6-4, escaping Cayden Atkins' takedown then turning the tides with a takedown resulting in a first period 2:52 fall.

Barton also picked up a pair of individual wins in the lone extra matches of the night as Anthony Mariche kept his slate clean improving to 8-0 on the year. Mariche piled up an 8-0 lead before pinning Pratt's Luke Rider in 2:13 to begin the night's action, then later concluded the evening with his second back flattening victory on a 5:51 mat slapper over Moo Soe.
