18th ranked Barton women’s golf place 5th in meet shortened spring opener.
The 18th ranked Barton Community College women's golf team placed 5th in the nationally ranked packed Conquistador Classic held Thursday at Dodge City's Mariah Hills Golf Course.
Additionally serving as the conference opening meet, just one of the scheduled two rounds was completed due to high winds sweeping across the region forcing the cancellation of Friday's action.
In Thursday's lone round, Barton accumulated a 49-over 333 to finish eleven strokes behind 16th ranked Garden City Community and twenty-two from 11th ranked Dodge City Community College who placed third overall.
Additional meet participants 4th ranked New Mexico Junior College led by 16 strokes over NAIA 30th ranked Park University in taking the top two spots of the team leaderboard.
Individually, Chomchanok Laparojkit led Barton in 12th place of the 33-entry field carding a 9-over par, 80 score.
Frida Medellin was next in 19th at 12-over, 83 round followed by Diana Alvarado and Joellen Vogt tied in 23rd at 14-over 85.
In 27th was Giovanna Tabanag carding a 15-over 86, Alayna Crosby's 17-over 88 placed 29th, Kadynce Nash in 31st place on a 20-over 91 card with Lexus Petersilie closing out the Barton entries in 33rd at 33 over 104.
The Cougars' next action comes in two weeks at the KJCCC Meet No.2 held March 28-29 at the Salina Municipal Golf Course.
