Barton women's golf closes out Fall season with fourth victory, Sukterm leads Cougars to Swedes Shoutout title #GoBarton

The Barton Community College women's golf team closed out an exceptional fall season schedule on Tuesday with a 41-stroke victory in the Swedes Shootout.

Shooting an opening round 304 Monday, the Cougars returned to McPherson's Turkey Creek Golf Course on Tuesday to continue its separation within the six team field with a 301 to finish at 30-over par, 606 accumulation in winning its fourth tournament of five meets.

Host Bethany College finished runner-up at 71-over (330-317) with Friends University placing third at 91-over (342-325).

Andrea Peraza and Butpapaporn Sukterm with awards at Swedes Shootout Barton's win also included three Cougars in the top ten of the 39-competitor field led again by Butpapaporn Sukterm as the freshman won her fifth tournament of the year.  Opening with a 2-under 70, Sukterm increased her final margin to ten strokes in firing a final round 4-under 68 to finish at 6-under 138.

Two strokes out of the runner-up position, sophomore Andrea Peraza carded 76-74 rounds in settling for third place with a 6-over 150.  

Climbing two spots on the final eighteen, Valentina Leyva followed Monday's 80 card with a 4-over 76 in placing 7th overall at 12-over 156.

Frida Medellin placed 11th on the leaderboard at 18-over 162, opening with a 79 but slipping five spots with a final round 83.

Much like the the Cougars' previous meet back on September 26, Alayna Crosby rebounded from a slow start 98 round in making the Cougars' biggest final round movement by shaving off seven strokes for a 91 and a four spot climb to a 25th place tie at 45-over 189.

Rounding out the Barton entries were Brenna Ruyle in 31st at 69-over 21, scoring a 112 followed by a two spot climb carding a team leading ten stroke improvement of 101 while Peyton Graber placed 33rd at 77-over 221 following 103 and 118 rounds.

The Cougars will now spend the off-season prepping for the spring season conference schedule beginning in March.
