Led by five Cougars in the top ten, the Barton Community College women's golf team ran away with a big victory Tuesday at the Hesston Golf Course Shootout.

Winners of their third tournament in four fall meets, the Cougars opened with a 326 before widening their 65 stroke margin to a concluding 135 stroke victory in carding a closing 310 round. Crowder College was the only other team entry in the Shootout, posting 390 and 381 rounds.

In a tie for individual honors after Monday's round with a 75, Butpapaporn Sukterm pulled away from the fifteen member field with a 71 to record the freshman's fourth victory of the fall season.

Sophomore Andrea Peraza began the final round in third following an 82 before matching her collegiate low 74 round set two weeks ago in moving into the runner-up position for the second straight meet.

Valentina Leyva gave the Cougars three in the top four behind 83 and 81 rounds for 4th overall as Frida Medellin posted 86 and 84 scores to finish 6th.

Matching Peraza with final round most improved honors, Alayna Crosby also shaved eight strokes from her opening card by following a 94 with an 86 in placing 8th overall.

Rounding out the Barton entries were Brenna Ruyle in 12th with 101 and 102 cards and Peyton Graber in 14th by following a 109 with a six stroke improvement 103.

The squad will take a few weeks from competition before winding up the fall season October 9-10 at the 2023 Swedes Shootout at McPherson's Turkey Creek Golf Course.
