Barton women's golf notches second big victory of season in taking Central Kansas Classic #GoBarton

The Barton Community College women's golf team notched its second large margin victory as the Cougars piled up a 50-stroke win at the Central Kansas Classic held at McPherson's Turkey Creek Golf Course.

The Cougars held a 30-stroke lead after Monday's 25-over 313 round before closing with a 31-over 319 for the title in the seven team field. Barton finished a combined 56-over 632, fifty strokes better than Region foe Dodge City Community College as the Conquistadors made a final day charge of three spots in a combined 106-over 682.

Five Cougars landed in the top thirteen of the forty-two participants, led by Yu Wei Chiang runner-up placing with an 8-over 152 behind 74 and 78 rounds. Just two strokes back was Saya Schweitzer in third with 75-79 rounds for a 10-over 154.

Valentina Leyva placed 10th overall at 20-over 164 with 80-84 rounds holding off the charge of sophomore Pornnapa Inmee moving four slots into 11th with 84-81 rounds in finishing at 21-over 165.

Carding an 86 before moving up four spots following Tuesday's round of 81, Andrea Peraza finished tied for the 13th position with a 23-over 167.

Allyson Kaiser posted consistent 92 rounds to hold steady in 26th at 40-over 184 while Katina Bartel made the largest improvement from the two days of action in following a 102 with a 92 to compile a 50-over 194. One stroke behind was Paulina Villavicencio with 96-99 rounds for a 34th place 51-over 195.

Barton will have a couple of weeks before the Lady Tiger Classic September 26-27 held at Hays' Smoky Hill Country Club.
