An early lead withered away over the two days of action as the Barton Community College women's golf team place third Tuesday at the Lady Swedes Shootout held at McPherson's Turkey Creek Golf Course.

Barton women's golfer Paulina Villavicencio following her 3rd place finish at the 2021 Lady Swede Shootout Barton got off to a hot start in Monday's opening round, building a seven stroke lead through the first six holes before sliding into second by the end of the day posting a 307 total.  Having three Cougars on the leaderboard top ten after the first round, Barton was left with just two as the team felt the effects of travel and a 5:00 a.m. final round return departure in falling down the leaderboards with a 335 in finishing third at 66-over 642.

Paulina Villavicencio led the 55-player field after Monday's round, controlling the course with four birdies in firing a 1-under 71.  Villavicencio knocked in another pair of birdies on day two in tying for the tournament best but like the rest of the Cougars, went backwards despite carding a team low 9-over 81 round sliding to the third spot on the leaderboard with an 8-over 152.

Mathanee Pandee was the lone other Cougar in the top ten, finishing at 16-over 160 to tie for the 10th spot.  Pandee opened with a 4-over 76 for sixth best but a pair of triple bogeys offset the lone birdie on the day two scorecard in dropping to 10th on 12-over 84 round.

In the ninth position after Monday's round of 6-over, Pornnapa Inmee carded a team second best low round 83 but the five strokes higher dropped her out of the top ten into a tie for the 12th slot at 17-over 161.

Pawinee Sukasem just missed the top twenty, stringing 83 and 87 rounds for a 21st placing of 26-over 170.  Matilyn Newman rounded out the team entries, posting a 17th overall best 82 card on Monday before falling back to 29th with a 96 for a 34-over 178 total.

Three Cougars competed as individuals, led by Haleigh Spray's 34th place 39-over 183 (87-96), followed by Sasha Guinsbourg's climbing ten spots to 39th after posting Barton's lone second round improvement to finish at 46-over 190 (103-87) whil Jalyn Turner's 66-over 210 (98-112) placed 47th.

Barton will be back on the course this coming Sunday and Monday hosting the Barton Invite held at Junction City's Rolling Meadows Golf Course in a 9:00 a.m. start each day.
