Comeback fall short for Barton women's golf in season's second conference meet #GoBarton

The Barton Community College women's golf team shaved nineteen strokes off its first day total of the Jayhawk's second meet of the season but it wasn't enough as Dodge City Community College was up for the challenge in a fourteen stroke win at the Barton Invitational for its second straight.

In gusty wind conditions on Friday, Dodge City stood atop the leaderboard at Stoneridge Golf Course by ten strokes, firing a 329 to the Cougars 339. In Saturday's final round Barton made a charge in carding a 320 but the Conquistadors stayed tough by posting a 316 for a 77-over 645 total to distance Barton's 91-over 659. Fort Scott Community College also improved on day two, shaving ten strokes off from their opening 404 to place third at 798.

Barton heads to eastern Kansas on Friday for its next meet, rejoining its conference foes at Fort Scott's Woodland Hills Golf Course. Opening round begins at 1:00 p.m. with Saturday's final round slated for a 9:00 a.m. start.

Five Cougars finished in the top eight of the leaderboard with Dodge City taking the top two spots and a fifth and eighth place.

A career best final round of even par 71 propelled Mathanee Pandee five spots up the final leaderboard, placing third overall with the 88 and 71 rounds for a 17-over 159.

The Dodge City duo of Thitapha Iamtragul and Tanika Yadilokwong placed first and second with Iamtragul's winning 7-over par put together rounds of 75-74 while Yadilokwong finished two strokes ahead of Pandee with a 15-over 157 on 80-77 rounds.

Paulina Villavicencio was two strokes better on Saturday but fell a spot on the leaderboard due to Pandee's performance, finishing in the 4th spot at 22-over with 83-81 rounds.

Mia Trousdale tied Dodge City's Alyssa McMillen for the 5th slot at 24-over firing twin 83 rounds as McMillen carded Saturday's fourth best round of 80 to follow up her opening 86.

Pawinee Sukasem carded 86-85 rounds for a 29-over 171 for 7th place.

Paige Barnes ended up tied for 8th place at 36-over 178 carding 87-91 rounds as Dodge City's Ashtyn Turrentine followed an opening 93 with a final round 85.

Just outside the top ten by two strokes of the 21 member field, Haleigh Spray's rounds of 92-90 placed 11th at 40-over.

Cailee McMullen opened with a 99 but began her final round with a near hole-n-one by inches in continuing the momentum for an 87 to stay unchanged at 13th on the leaderboard.

Rounding out the Cougars entrants, Drue Davis place 18th overall on rounds of 106 and 105 for a 69-over 211.
