Piddon wins fourth conference meet, Barton women's golf runner-up in regular season finale in Dodge City

Piddon wins fourth conference meet, Barton women's golf runner-up in regular season finale in Dodge City

Having their four conference meet victory stretch snapped the last time the Barton Community College women's golf team visited Mariah Hills Golf Course, the Lady Cougars couldn't avenge the loss in coming up second at the sixth and final KJCCC meet of the season.  Shooting their worst team score since 2014 last October at the course, the Lady Cougars improved by twelve strokes despite sustained 20mph wind gusting up to forty-five but trailed host Dodge City Community College by four strokes after the opening eighteen holes.  Returning to the somewhat settled down course on Saturday with 15mph wind, the field played much better but the Lady Cougars were unable to climb back as the Conquistadors widen the lead by eight on the final nine holes to win with a total score of 538 to Barton's 550.  The Dodge City victory evened the conference matchups with Barton at three victories each with the next meeting coming next Friday and Saturday in the Region VI Championship held at Hutchinson's Carey Park Golf Course.

Claiming her fourth conference title in the six meets, Peerada Piddon jumped out to a four stroke lead with an opening 83 before widening the winning gap to six with a 40 to finish at 123.

Dodge City took the team title with five in the top ten as three finished in the 2-3-4 slots on the leaderboard. Orakorn Thirayatorn led the trio with a 129 with spring addition Kanyakorn Chothirunpanit carding a 131 and Rachanok Rahulpan placing fourth with a 134.

Not fielding a team but having three individual entries, Coffeyville Community College's Jordan Lee was the lone non-Barton or Dodge City player in the top ten finishing in the middle of the pack at fifth with a 138.

Mackenzie Fabrizius rallied from day one's 93 round to catch fellow Lady Cougar Kendra Jellison for the sixth spot at 140.  Jellison opened with a 92 for the one stroke lead but Fabrizius' 47 was one stroke better resulting in the tie.  Miranda Kern recovered from Friday's 101 round firing a final nine hole 47 to finish ninth at 148.

The Conquistadors' Logan Gleason nabbed the eighth spot at 145 with teammate individualist Katie Rostetter coming in tenth with a 151.

Lucia Rodriguez Zapico rounded out the team entries bouncing back from a 106 firing a 47 to finish at 153.  Taylor Becker led three Lady Cougar individualists posting a 157 with 108-49 rounds to edge out Janae Champlin's 159 (107-52) while Olivia Neuenswander finished at 166 (116-50).
