Piddon captures second individual title, opening round dooms Lady Cougar golf

The Barton Community College women's golf team finished second today in the third KJCCC Meet of the season.  Following a disastrous opening eighteen holes digging a fourteen shot deficit Sunday at the Coffeyville Country Club, the Lady Cougars gained a stroke in Monday's final nine holes but came up well short in the comeback.  Dodge City Community College captured its second straight conference meet to grab a 2-1 conference lead heading to the spring season scoring a 510 twenty-seven hole combined total to the Lady Cougars' 523.  Coffeyville Community College did not field a complete team and therefore did not register a team score.

A week after having Barton's ten meet individual win streak snapped, Peerada Piddon regained the individual title for the Lady Cougars firing a 4-over 76 on Sunday before closing with a 42 on Monday.  Piddon's 118 held off Dodge City's Rachanok Rahulpan by one stroke to win her second conference meet of the season while finishing four strokes better than Coffeyville's Julia Dierker.

The Conquistadors' Orakorn Thirayatorn, who broke up Barton's long streak of individual victories last week at Dodge City, placed fourth at 123 and one stroke ahead than the Lady Cougars' Leeseo Park.   Bouncing back from a disappointing 85 on Sunday, Park fired a tournament low 39 on Monday to jump into the fifth spot.

Dodge City's Tiara Diaz took the sixth spot with a 127 and ten strokes ahead of seventh place finisher Karah Bassett of Coffeyville.

Barton's No. 5 golfer Bailey Gage had her best tournament of her freshman campaign shooting 91-48 for an eighth best 139 score and two shots in front of Dodge City's Alyssa Vazquez.

Mackenzie Fabrizius rebounded with a vengeance on Monday with a 45 surging into the tenth spot after an opening day 103.  Natalie Fish finished with a 151 while individualists Taylor Overlees and Daleen Turner finished with a 152 and 160 respectively.

Barton will have five months to prepare for the spring season as the Lady Cougars will continue their defense of its fourth straight conference title resuming March 27, 2016, in Emporia, Kansas.
