Lady Cougars improve twenty-three strokes taking over tenth spot at NJCAA Championship

Improving twenty-three strokes from hits second day performance, the Barton Community College women's golf team shot a 341 in Wednesday's third round play at the NJCAA Women's Golf National Championship held at Longbow Golf Club in Mesa, Arizona.  The improvement moved the Lady Cougars up a slot in the team rankings to tenth place by six strokes leaving a another big effort on Thursday to make up a nineteen stroke deficit to match last year's ninth place finish. 

Natthakan Teeratrakul improved six spots to a tie for 23rd in the standings as the sophomore carded a +6 78 on the day.  Bogeying the first and fourth holes, Teeratrakul recovered from a mid-round stretch of four more bogeys in a stretch of five holes to birdie two of her last five holes.  

Freshman Hye Rin Kim, who made a charge up the leaderboard Tuesday, had another solid round despite a triple-bogey on her ninth hole carding a 42-43 for a +11 83.  

making a big improvedment in the third round, Abbie Thelen birdied three holes to move up eight spots on the chart to 79th.  Opening up the round with a 47 with a birdie mixed in with a pair of double bogey's and triple, Thelen fired back on the final nine with two birdies in her last five holes for a 42 wrapping up her best round of the tournament at +17 89.

Equally Thelen's twelve stroke improvement, Madison Walden followed her opening 48 with a 43 including a birdie on the final hole to wrap up a 42 moving up ninth spots into a tie for 80th with the +19 91.  

Trying to follow her day two twelve stroke improvement, Madison Werth appeared to bounce back from an opening 53 but a ten on the par five closing hole ballooned to final nine 54 finishing at +35 107 to drop down three slots into a 95th place tie. 

The Lady Cougars will wrap up the season in the final round Thursday as the squad begins tee times at 1:30 p.m. Central Time back nine tee off.
