Barton Women's Bowling concludes regular season with pair of Top 15 performances at NAIA West Region 1 and 2
Wrapping up the regular season, the Barton Community College women's bowling team mended a pair of top 15 finishes this past weekend at the NAIA West Region 1 and 2 held at the Royal Crest Lanes in Lawrence, KS.
Featured as the lone two-year program amongst the 15 teams, the Cougars collected a 12th place result in Saturday's five-individual team games of the West Region 1, dismantling 3,709 pins before coming back 12-hours later piling up 3,805 for a 13th place finish in Sunday's West Region 2 event.
Fielding a five-participant lineup, Hope Resendiz guided the Cougars individually with a 33rd placing in the 106-participant field destructing a five game 818. Resendiz surpassed the 200 club with a second game 211 to lead the highest individual round along with a five game 163.6 average.
Ellie Weeks edged out teammate Alexis Wareman by 11 pins as the duo finished 46th and 47th with five game totals of 750 and 739 respectively.
Chailyn Scott landed just outside the top 50 destroying 725 pins over her five games for 51st while JaeLinn Thetford concluded Barton's entries with a 57th finish of 677 pins.
Besting the 15 team fields on both days was William Penn University amassing top marks of 4,564 and 4,947 outlasting Culver-Stockton College's runner-up tallies of 4,336 and 4.699.
Lucy Mitchell of William Penn University captured the individual title with 1,029 pins, finishing over 200 in four of the five tossed games while Rachel Moore of Culver-Stockton College took runner-up honors by one pin over Rachel Spier of Morningside University.
The Cougars will have three weeks off to prepare for the 2025 NJCAA Bowling Championships held February 27th – March 1st at the Airport Lanes in Cheektowga, New York.
