Barton Women's Bowling turns in 5th place finishes at stout SWIBC-I and SWIBC-II #GoBarton

Making their first tournament appearance of the season, the Barton Community College women's bowling team logged consistent performances this past weekend at the duo tier-two tournaments held at the City View Lanes in Fort Worth, Tex.

Competing as the lone NJCAA program and battling a stout field featuring top NCAA Division I and Division II programs, the Cougars assembled back-to-back fifth place finishes on the weekend. In Saturday's SWIBC-I, Barton destroyed 6,350 pins over five individual and 12 baker games before tipping down 6,264 pins in Sunday's SWIBC-II consisting of seven individual games.

Louisiana Tech University led the nine-team field both days carding score of 7,802 and 7,027 to edge out Stephen F. Austin University's runner-up 7,379 total on Saturday and Tulane University's 7,021 second place finish on Sunday.

SWIBC-I
Sophomore Jasmine Bridges directed the Cougars individually posting the 15th best score in the field of 70-man competitors knocking down 948 total pins. Over the five-games tossed, Bridges averaged 189.6 per-10 frames with her highest score coming in the fourth game (202).

Angelina Leeper edged out Allyson Heidenreich by one pin as the duo finished 36th (819) and 37th (818) respectfully to conclude the varsity top-40 performances. Leeper's top game came in the third with a 206 while Heidenreich rolled the top individual game on the squad with a third game 217.

Returning to her hometown state, Morgan Kolanek led the junior varsity entered team with a 32nd place, as the freshman from Mansfield, Texas tallied a five-game score 836.

Barton's "JV" squad was steady as the four pack of Cheyenne O'Connor (41st), Charlee Bitler (43rd), Alexandra Coykendall (44th), and Cassidy Goans (46th) joined Kolanek with top-50 performances.

SWIBC-II
Shaking the lineups up a bit on Sunday, Bridges remained the hot hand for Barton earning a 19th place finish tipping over 1,305 pins in her seven tossed games edging out Leeper's 20th best card of 1,299.

For the second consecutive day, Bridges posted the highest rolled game on the varsity team with a game six high 222 while averaging a best 186.4 per 10-frames. Leeper fell six pins back with 1,299 turning in a pair of plus-200 games (210) and (203).

Chailyn Scott rounded out the varsity's top-30 placings finishing 29th bowling a seven-game score 1,254 with a third game high 213.

O'Conner improved her finish from Saturday placing 13 spots better earning a 28th best score 1,256 to lead the "JV" five-pack. The Salina, KS native turned in the highest individual game for Barton with a sixth game 234 while averaging 179.4 per 10-frames.

Olivia Oliver slipped just outside the top-30 with a 32nd best 1,226 while Bitler, Goans and Coykendall rounded out the results for the "JV" club respectfully with finishes of (45th), (46th), and (48th).

Barton will return to action Thursday as they travel to Ottawa, Kan. to battle Ottawa University at 11:00 a.m. inside the Fusion Alley.
