Barton Women conclude regular season with runner-up finish at the SWIBC Championships; Trio of Cougars' earn All-SWIBC honors
The Barton Community College women's bowling team had a successful tune-up before the postseason this weekend at the SWIBC Championships returning home with a runner-up finish.
Battling in the two-day event consisting of nine individual the Cougars posted a second-best 8,282 score between the field of four entering Sunday afternoon's match play. Barton's hope of a tournament title came just shy to the weekend's top point scoring squad of Oklahoma Christian University falling in the championship best of five baker games, 3-0.
Rounding out the season's SWIBC competition Ella Adkins, Courtney Kitchen and Angelina Leeper claimed All-SWIBC honors meeting the minimum 26 games rolled over the eight-sanctioned SWIBC events competed in throughout the regular season.
The trio posted top-8 finishes with Leeper the lone Cougar to land on the weekend's All-Tournament team securing a fifth place 1,741 score over nine games tossed. The sophomore paced the team with four games above the 200-mark including a tournament average 193.4.
Kitchen and Adkins followed suit with sixth and seventh place finishes with nine game totals of 1,699 and 1,673 respectfully. Kitchen supplemented the teams' second best average game score of 188.8 while Adkins tallied Barton's highest individual game in the opener tossing a 253.
Allyson Heidenreich fell just shy of a top-10 performance scoring a seven game 1,302 behind a pair of 210 and 224 games.
Jasmine Bridges, Olivia Oliver, and Cassidy Goans concluded the individual finishes for the Cougars with cards of 1,220, 506, and 141 respectfully.
Barton will begin their month long of preparation for the 2023 NJCAA Bowling Championships held March 2-4 at the Airport Lanes in Cheektowaga, New York.
