Feast and Moore highlight weekend as Barton Bowling strikes up second half of season #GoBarton

The Barton Community College bowling programs returned to full force this past weekend competing in the SWIBC V and SWIBC VI held in Dallas and Plano TX.

Entered as the lone NJCAA school, the Cougars produced solid results with the women returning home with a pair of fifth place finishes while the men managed a 10th place finish before bettering their result in Sunday's separate program with a ninth place showing.

Barton's next action will come this weekend at the Bronco Bash held in Hastings, NE.

Saturday's SWIBC I Recap
Saturday's SWIBC V format featured five individual team games concluding with 12 baker games.

Women:
Returning to the lanes for the first time in over two months, the Barton women showed little signs of rust as the squad rolled to a fifth-place finish in Saturday's clash destroying 5,471 pins.  

Claiming the team title was Wichita State University's 7,248 pin total edging out runner up Oklahoma Christian University's 6,996 score with Newman University following in third place knocking down 68,74 pins.

Sitting in fifth place following the five individual team games, freshman Casey Feast led the Cougars individually with a 16th place finish out of the 45-participant field knocking down a five-game score of 836.

Ella Adkins turned in the highest game and average score on the team tossing a second-round score of 220 in her four matches while averaging a 167.5 per 10-frames earning a 24th place finish.

Courtney Kitchen, Taylor Cessna and Brecken Philbrick combined to toss four games rolled posting scores of 599, 586 and 576 respectively.

Unable to move up the leaderboard in baker games, the Cougars remained consistent rolling the fifth best baker score of 1,591.

Men:
On the men's side the Cougars grinded to a 10th place finish in Saturday's SWIBC V that featured a 14-team field. Barton also fielded a junior-varsity team, which finished fifth among the seven JV teams.

Barton's final overall pin count was 6,385 falling just 86 back of the University of Louisiana-Lafayette's 6,461. Newman University swept both the varsity (7,648) and junior varsity (6,780) competitions in the tournament with Silas Limes of Newman earning the individual champion with a score of 1,165 in 120 entry field.

Bryce Moore posted the highest finish for the Cougars falling just one spot out of a top-five performance knocking over a sixth best 1,071 pins. The freshman recorded a season best single game score of 279 in the third of his five games tossed.

Andrew Harden took 26th with a total of 955 that included scores of 206, 208, 188, 180 and 175. Falling 27-sports behind Harden was Griffin Peterson with an 872 while posting a pair of 200-plus rounds of 221 and 230.

Freshman Alec Elskamp led the junior-varsity squad with an 866-score averaging 173 per 10-frame.

Sunday's SWIBC II Recap

Sunday's SWIBC II format featured seven individual team games to conclude the weekend's two-day event.

Women:
Feast rolled five of her seven games over 200 and finished fifth individually to lead Barton on Sunday in the SWIBC VI.

The freshman from Wichita, KS posted games of 204, 236, 204, 190, 238 and 245 for an overall seven-game score of 1,500.

Adkins rolled a pair of games above 200 with scores of 201 and 203 for a 22nd place finish, while Cessna finished right behind with a crooked three-digit total of 205. Freshman Kylie Lowe contributed a 217 and 209 in two of her five rolled games.

Kitchen, Philbrick, Ana Stanton and Jaden Boden also rolled at least one game on the day for the Cougars.

In the tournament which consisted of seven regular team games, Barton placed fifth out of seven teams with a score of 6,157. Wichita State University won the tournament with a score of 7,416.

Men:
The Cougar men bettered their team finish in Sunday's action tallying a score of 6,520 earning a ninth-place result. Wichita State University outlasted the 14-team field with a total count of 7,952 with Kansas Wesleyan and Newman University finishing behind with scores of 7,565 and 7,275.

Moore sustained his hot weekend stretch finishing his day with 1,470 pins while recording six of his seven games tossed over the 200-mark. The freshman paced the five-man team averaging a score of 210 per 10-frames.  

Peterson matched Moore for the Cougars' top game of the day blasting down 237 over 10-frames while recording two other rounds over the 200-pin count with scores of 223 and 212.

Harden hit a pair of 200 games with fourth and fifth game scores of 207 and 203 while Elskamp concluded the 200-games for the Cougars tallying a 219 in his third of seven games bowled.

Jy'Vaughn Martin paced the junior-varsity team with a 58th place while also recording the highest single game score on the Cougar team with a sixth round score of 258.
