Barton Bowling secures pair of 18th place finishes at Mid-States Championships #GoBarton

Bowling Mid-States Championships Result

The Barton Community College bowling programs faced an early season test this past weekend at the Mid-States Championships held in Wichita, KS.

Competing against one of the largest fields they'll face all season, the young Cougar squads returned home with a pair of 18th place finishes.

Battling against 27-other teams, the Barton men tallied a weekend total of 8950 pins over Saturday's 6-individual team games and Sunday's 20-baker games.

Host school Wichita State University took the team crown rolling over 10302 pins compiling a 20-baker game best total of 4148 edging out St. Ambrose University by 27-total pins.

The Cougar men remained consistent over the weekend posting an 18th best score of 5265 in Saturday's six-individual team games. Freshman Andrew Harden coordinated the consistent hand for Barton turning in a 50th place finish rolling to a 1163 score over six games for a team best average score of 194 per 10-frames.

Falling just four spots back and five pins shy of Harden was Preston Miller collecting a Cougar game best score of 233 in his third of six games rolled.

Kadin Berry, Dylan Depperschmidt and Griffin Peterson rounded out the individual finishes with 107th, 119th and 126th place finishes respectively in the 266-competitor field.

WOMEN RECAP
On the women's side of things Barton compiled a two-day total of 7761 pins falling just 175 shy of 17th place Columbia College.

Sam Houston State University outlasted the 26-team field rolling to a 9265 total outlasting runner-up Wichita State University by 87 pins and third place Mount Mercy University by 112.

Concluding Saturday's six-team games, the Cougars sat in 17th place bowling a 4785 score. Freshman Casey Feast led the seven pack of Cougars in Saturday's individual team games with a 67th place finish knocking over 921 pins including a team high game score of 209 in her fourth of five games tossed.

Courtney Kitchen and Ella Adkins secured Barton's other top-100 finishes in the 208-participant field with 85th and 95th place finishes respectively.

The Cougars' next action will come this weekend at the 13th Annual Hammer Lions Classic held Saturday and Sunday at St. Charlies Lanes in St. Charles, Missouri.
