Women's Bowling finds weekend success at SWIBC III & IV #GoBarton

Barton Women's Bowling Result at SWIBC III & IV

Competing one final time in the regular season, the Barton Community College women's bowling team found success this past weekend in the Southwest Intercollegiate Bowling Circuit III & IV in Shawnee, OK.

The Cougars opened the weekend with a fifth place finish in the SWIBC III posting a team score of 5,481 over four team games and 10 Baker games. Stephen F. Austin toppled the eight-team field with a score of 6,172.

Unlike their counterparts, the Barton women slipped two spots in Sunday's action of the SWIBC IV tallying 5,308 pins falling 173 pins shy of Saturday's performance securing a seventh place outing. Claiming the team title was Wichita State University besting the loaded field with 6,446 pins.

Alexandria Newell paced Barton individually finishing 22nd knocking over 1,135 pins in six games tossed. The sophomore eclipsed the 200 mark three times while leading the squad with an average score of 189.Taylor Cessna fell a spot back of Newell blasting down 1,112 pins marking the highest individual score for the Cougars with a third game round of 216.

The Cougars will prepare over the next week and a half for the 2021 NJCAA Bowling Championships held April 7th-9th at the Royal Scot Golf and Bowl in Lansing, MI.
