Long distance shooting knocks off 17th ranked Barton women at Cowley #GoBarton

Barton Women's Basketball result at Cowley College

An opening three-pointer set the tone Wednesday evening in Arkansas City as Cowley College's women's basketball team enjoyed a thirty-nine point differential behind the arc in leading wire-to-wire to knock off 17th ranked Barton Community College.

The Tigers were 13-of-33 beyond the arc, draining seven of those in second half action breaking away from a four point halftime advantage.  Barton continued to hang around within striking distance but each time the Cougars seem to grab the momentum, Cowley buried three-point daggers before breaking the game wide open midway through the final frame.

Splitting the season series, Barton drops to 10-4 and slips to 4th place in Jayhawk play and 16-4 overall while Cowley improves to 6-9 and 11-10 overall.

Next up for the Cougars is trying to protect home court Saturday on Hall of Fame Day as the nationally receiving votes Blue Dragons of Hutchinson Community College come to the Barton Gym for a 5:30 p.m. tipoff.

Saddled with foul trouble including essentially missing the entire third quarter, Jenny Nkem Womsi notched her 14th double-double of the year by putting up 15 points and grabbing 13 rebounds in just 21 minutes of court time.  Acorionna Lard and Mikaela Hall added 12 points with Racheal Emmanuel's 11 points in just nine minutes of action tying a career high point production.

Gracie Gilpin's career high night led the Tigers by draining 6-of-11 beyond the arc for 22 points. After a four point first half, leading scorer Baylee Fincher heated up canning a trio of treys for 21 points.  Anna Przyszlak contributed a double-double 15 points and 12 rebounds with Carson Dean closing out the double figure scoring with 12 points.
