Barton's Womsi and Kirchhoff earn post-season basketball honors #GoBarton

2021-2022 Women's Basketball All-KJCCC and All-Region VI Division I team

Fresh off its third straight bid for the Region VI Championship, Jenny Nkem Womsi and Brennan Kirchhoff of the Barton Community College women's basketball team earned post-season All-KJCCC and All-Region VI honors as selected by conference and region coaches.

Voted as the Co-Newcomer of the Year in landing on the 2nd Team of selections, Womsi was one of the top inside players in the region in posting 14 double-double performances throughout conference play and through the playoffs. Averaging 9.9 points and 8.9 rebounds for the season, Womsi's conference efforts helped the Cougars to a fourth place finish by rising her game to 11.0 points and a region leading 10.3 rebounds per contest. Womsi, along with Acorionna Lard, were also selected to the Region VI All-Tournament team this past Saturday following the Cougars' loss to No. 25 Hutchinson in the title game.

Kirchhoff garnered third team honors of the nineteen member selections, averaging a team second best 10.5 points and 5.6 rebounds despite usually being the shortest player on the court at 5'4". The heart and backbone of the squad, Kirchhoff usually drew the defensive assignment of the opponents best perimeter scoring threat while offensively putting up the offensive numbers to also lead the squad averaging over 31 minutes of court time per game.

The pair helped lead the Cougars close out the year strong going 8-2 in the final ten games including the program's third straight region championship loss to cap the year at 20-13.
