Barton's Stapleton wins opening week conference honor #GoBarton

Jaylin Stapleton of the Barton Community College women's basketball team has been named the KJCCC Kansas MTXE Women's Division I Basketball Player of the Week for her efforts in week one of the 2017 season.
Stapleton made a splash in her collegiate debut scoring thirty-points in going on to average 19.0 per game. Knocking down 4-of-5 from beyond the arc, the Meade, Kansas, freshman shot nearly 47% from long range on the week with a solid 43% from the floor. The 5'5" dynamo also averaged 4.7 rebounds per game while dishing out over 2.5 assists for the week.
The Lady Cougars opened the season with two victories, 102-68 over the junior varsity squad from Kansas Wesleyan University followed by a 78-64 win over Redlands Community College. Stapleton and the Lady Cougars wrapped up the week with a 78-63 loss against Northern Oklahoma College-Enid to conclude last weekend's Best Western Angus Inn Booster Club Classic.
Concluding its non-conference schedule with an 83-48 victory over the Sterling College junior varsity squad, Barton turns its attention to Saturday's conference opener against Colby Community College in a 5:30 p.m. tip.
