Robinson's career record breaking night helps power Barton women to overtime knockoff of Northwest Tech

It took overtime but the gritty Barton Community College women's basketball team advanced past Northwest Kansas Technical College 85-81 Thursday night at the Barton Gym in its first round matchup advancing to Monday's quarterfinals of the Region VI Tournament.   Handing the Lady Mavericks just its second loss in ending Northwest Tech's season at 28-2, the 17-14 and seventh seeded Lady Cougars advance to Park City's Hartman Arena for a 3:00 p.m. matchup with No. 2 seeded and ranked Hutchinson Community College.

For the second straight game Barton received an individual setting a new career high in points and rebounds as Baylee Robinson carried the load for a thirty-six point, thirteen rebound performance.  The sophomore transfer's 17-of-26 night from the field also set a new school record for most made field goals in a game surpassing the sixteen mark set by Wendy Okeson in 2000.

Playing their final game on the L.T. and Sheila Fleske Court, Barton's other sophomores joined Robinson in the refuse to lose effort to advance the Lady Cougars.   Katrina Roenfeldt dropped twenty-two on the night including converting a hoop-n-harm to put Barton up three early in the overtime period.  Owning the single season record for three-pointers made in a season, Roenfeldt added four more to the top mark knocking down 4-of-7 from beyond the arc while sinking 6-of-7 from the charity stripe while also pulling down nine rebounds, recording three steals, and dishing out four assists. Jalisa Jones was the final Lady Cougar to get into double digits scoring ten while Regan Unruh led with eight assists and six points on free throws, none larger than sinking two of her charity tosses with five seconds to clinch the trip to Park City.  Alexus Bryson had a solid flour game leading the offense with three assists to go along with tough defense leading the team with four steals.

Juliet James' double-double night led Northwest Kansas Tech with twenty points and fifteen rebounds.  Tran Brown added seventeen including two treys in a stretch giving the Lady Mavericks their largest lead of the game at six points in the second quarter.  Dejoure Boland and Arion Jackson contributed twelve and ten respectively with Destiny Lindsey dishing out a team high four assists.
