Streak snapped as Barton women succumb to No. 2 ranked Hutchinson
The Barton Community College women’s basketball team had their three game win streak snapped Wednesday night as the No. 2 ranked Hutchinson Community College Blue Dragons pulled away for a 61-43 victory. Having played the Blue Dragons to within five earlier in the season at the Barton Gym, the Lady Cougars held a 24-23 second quarter lead until a 10-3 run to close the half put Hutchinson out front by six at halftime. The Blue Dragons continued to own the final twenty minutes holding Barton to its lowest output of the season and running its winning streak over Barton to sixteen straight. Barton drops back to the .500 mark in the Jayhawk play at 11-11 for seventh in the conference standings and 14-12 overall while Hutchinson stays tied atop the standings at 21-1 and 25-1 on the year. The Lady Cougars' next action comes Saturday as Barton hosts Cloud County Community College in a 5:30 p.m. tip-off on Hall of Fame and Black Out Night at the Barton Gym.

Baylee Robinson was the lone Lady Cougar in double digits scoring eight of her fourteen points in the second quarter while also collecting eight rebounds in helping Barton to a six rebound edge over the Blue Dragons. Reigning conference and national player of the week Katrina Roenfeldt was held to nine points, but the sophomore drained three more treys to continue her climb up the Barton record books. Just missing the double-double coming up a point shy, the 5'6" Roenfeldt again had a solid night on the glass grabbing ten with the conference steal leader coming up with five thefts.
Inja Butina was one of two Blue Dragons in double digits leading all players with seventeen points including 3-of-3 shooting from beyond the arc while dishing out eight assists. Lakin Preisner's 4-of-5 from the field including 2-of-3 from beyond the arc contributed ten points.
Barton was held to 30.6% shooting from the field including just 21.7% in second half play as Hutchinson's 52% second half shooting led to a 30-17 final twenty minutes in pulling away for the victory.
