Season best deep shooting not enough for Barton women falling to red hot No. 7 Seward County; Roenfeldt takes over second place all-time

The Lady Cougars shot a season best 50% from beyond the arc knocking down 8-of-16 but the Saints buried sixteen long balls in thirty-two attempts to pull away for the victory. Now 8-9 in Jayhawk play, Barton drops to 11-10 on the season while Seward County remains tied at the top of the standings improving to 16-1 and 20-1 on the year. The Lady Cougars head to Arkansas City for their next contest taking on No. 22 ranked Cowley College in a 5:30 p.m. tip-off.

Micaela Jellison paced three Lady Cougars in double-digits scoring sixteen, but the night shined bright on Katrina Roenfeldt close behind with fifteen points and a team leading eight rebounds. Draining 3-of-4 long balls in the first quarter as Barton trailed 25-24, Roenfeldt climbed into second place of made three-pointers in Barton history surpassing the 127 made treys by Kristine Silaraja in the 2007-09 seasons. The Dodge City native would make 2-of-3 the final thirty-minutes leaving her with 130 total thus far in her two seasons, forty-one behind Ipek Turkyilmaz' top mark of 171 set during the 2006-08 seasons. Megan Jirak rounded out the Barton double-digit scorers with eleven points and team leading five assists to go along with seven rebounds helping to lead Barton to a nine board rebound advantage 35-26.
Outgunning Roenfeldt from long distance, Mollie Mounsey canned 7-of-12 from beyond the ard for a game high thirty points. The freshman from Texas was a sizzling 3-of-4 in first quarter action as the Lady Saints connected on 9-of-14 in the first have for a nine point halftime edge. Three other Lady Saints reached double-figures as each deposited three long balls through the net for a combined 9-of-17 between the trio. Leading the way was Neidy Ocuane with seventeen points and a game high eight assists and four steals, Brennyn Seagler with fifteen and a team high eight rebounds, and Erin Richardson adding eleven in part to 3-of-4 shooting behind the arc.
