Barton women dominate the paint to escape for third straight road victory

The Barton Community College women’s basketball team needed every point of its twenty-two point advantage in the paint Wednesday night at Dodge City’s United Wireless Arena to pick up their third straight conference road victory, defeating Dodge City Community College 66-64. Leading by fifteen in the second half, the Lady Cougars survived a Dodge City 14-4 run in the last four minutes including two Kesha Buckner missed free throws with two seconds remaining, to escape with the win. Barton improves to 5-3 in conference play and 17-7 overall while dropping Dodge City to 1-7 in conference and 14-10 overall. Playing the last two games on the road, Barton returns to the Barton Gym on Saturday for a 5:30 p.m. contest against Cloud County Community College.
