Lambert career high performance sparks Lady Cougars over Garden City
The Barton Community College women’s basketball ended a two game losing streak in Garden City as the Lady Cougars won 80-62 Saturday night over Garden City Community College. Barton led by five at the break then outscored Garden City by thirteen in the second half to also snap a four-game losing streak to the Lady Busters. Barton improves to 4-3 in Jayhawk Conference play and 16-7 overall and while dropping Garden City to 4-3 in conference and 12-10 overall. The Lady Cougars will conclude their two game conference road stretch of the schedule with a trip to Dodge City Community College on Wednesday for a 6:00 p.m. tip at the United Wireless Arena.

Mariana Lambert's career high twenty-three points led three Barton players to reach double figures. The freshman from Brazil connected on 6-of-9 shots from the field and 9-of-10 from the charity stripe and tied Ashton Bruner for the team lead in rebounding with eight. Cheyenne Hedrington added fourteen and a team high three steals while Taylor Mayes came off the bench to score eleven. Point guard Kailai Brantner just missed a double-double performance scoring nine points and dishing out nine assists.
Shaugunna Collins was the lone Garden City player to reach double figures scoring seventeen on 6-of-10 from the field. Six Lady Busters scored six or more points led by Loysha Morris' eight. Jasmine Christmas came off the bench to grab a team high nine rebounds while Collins and Allegria Chisom led in assists with three each.
