Dominating performance earns Lady Cougars first road conference win; Mayes with 1st career double-double

The Barton Community College women's basketball team jumped out to 12-2 run Sunday at Colby and never looked back cruising to the 82-47 win over Colby Community College.   The victory was the sixth straight in the series over Colby and earned the Lady Cougars their first road conference win of the season to improve to 3-2 and 15-6 overall while Colby drops to 0-5 and 2-19.

Cheyenne Hedrington led three Barton players in double-figures as ten Lady Cougars hit the scoring column.  Hedrington finished with 19 points, reaching double figures seventeen of Barton's twenty-one games.  Taylor Mayes posted her first career double-double scoring fourteen points and grabbing eleven rebounds while also dishing out a team high six assists.  Phikala Anthony came off the bench to score fourteen points connecting on 5-of-10 shots from the field.  Brandy Winbush, who made the start in place of Mariana Lambert, scored nine points on 3-of-4 from behind the arc and dished out five assists.

Deja Cato was the lone Colby player to reach double figures and led the Lady Trojans in most statistical categories.  Cato finished with fourteen points, tied for the team lead with Amanda Miller for rebounds with five, dished out five of the five Colby assists, and led with three steals.
