Lady Cougars light up new scoreboard rolling to win over Tabor College JV

The Barton Community College women's basketball team lit up the recently installed new scoreboard Tuesday night at the Barton Gym rolling to a 95-68 win over the junior varsity squad from Tabor College.   The Lady Cougars shot over fifty percent in each half to improve to 8-1 on the season while Tabor's JV drops to 1-6.  Barton will next play two Jayhawk East foes this weekend at the Barton Gym in the Best Western Angus Inn/Cougar Booster Club Thanksgiving Classic.  The Lady Cougars will take on Neosho County Community College on Friday with Independence Community College on Saturday.  Both games set to tip-off at 5:30 p.m.

A nineteen point eight rebound first half performance by Cheyenne Hedrington led to the freshman from Champaign, Illinois, to record her second double-double in the last three games, finishing the game with twenty-five points and eleven rebounds.  Ashton Bruner scored seventeen with an all-around floor game dishing out six assists and four steals.  Mariana Lambert rounded out the Lady Cougars' double-digit scoring with eleven points.  Kailai Brantner led Barton in assists with seven while Sharyce Warren led in steals with five.

Dani Dowell, a 2013 Central Kansas High School Classic All-Star and Hilltop Hoops Classic participant, made good use of her familiarity of the Barton Gym scoring twelve first half points to lead Tabor College with twenty points.  Amber Tamez was the only other Blue Jay to reach double-figures but recorded a double-double with eleven points and ten rebounds.  Bailey Clark led in assists with five while another Central Kansas All-Star Brandy Burns led Tabor College in steals with three.
