The Barton Community College women's basketball team scored the game's first thirteen points to cruise to a 98-58 win Wednesday evening over the McPherson College Junior Varsity at the Barton Gym.   The Lady Cougars led by thirty-five at the break and fifty with six minutes to play in winning their third straight game to open the season.  Barton will head to Salina, Kansas, to play two games at this weekend's Brown Mackie Classic.  The Lady cougars will play St. Mary's Junior Varsity on Friday and the Kansas Wesleyan Junior Varsity on Saturday.  Both games will tip-off at 1:00 p.m. at the Student Life Center on the campus of Kansas State University-Salina.

Ashton Bruner led six Lady Cougars in double-digit scoring with fifteen points as all thirteen players saw action.  Taylor Mayes scored 14 with Victoria Davis coming off the bench to score twelve.  Also coming off the bench, Sharyce Warren, Brandy Winbush, and Ciera Lampe each scored eleven.  Bruner and Cheyenne Hedrington led in rebounding with eight and seven respectively with Phikala Anthony close behind with six.  Warren led in steals with five to go along with eight assists while Anthony finished one behind with seven dimes.

McPherson's Sunny Smart led all scorers with twenty-two points including a 5-for-10 performance from behind the arc.  Callie Atkins finished with sixteen and shared team high rebound honors with Stephanie Ellis with six each.
