Offense sputters in second half as Lady Cougars drop conference road game
Playing its second game in less than twenty-four hours, the Barton Community College women’s basketball team faltered in the second half and dropped a 59-53 Jayhawk West contest Sunday at Colby Community College. Leading by seven at the break, Barton built a twelve point lead through the first six minutes of the second half. In the midst of building the lead, the Lady Cougars went frigid from the field going nearly twelve minutes without a field goal and resulting in a five point deficit. Tying the game with three minutes to play, Barton was outscored 13-7 down the stretch to drop their conference record to 3-12 and 13-15 overall while keeping Colby got its first conference win of the season to improve to 1-14 and 7-22 overall. Barton will conclude the regular season Wednesday in Concordia as the Lady Cougars take on the Cloud County Community College Lady Thunderbirds in a 6:00 p.m. contest.

Sophomore Blair Bloomfield scored a career high twenty-four points and grabbed a team high seven rebounds to lead Barton. Freshman Ashton Bruner was the only other Lady Cougar in double digit scoring with thirteen points while also leading the team with three steals.
Linda Pagrode came off the bench to lead three Colby players in double-digits by scoring eighteen while Kasey Hoyt and Agnese Aramina contributed eleven and ten points respectively.
