Season comes to an end for Lady Cougars in Region VI playoffs
The Barton Community College women’s basketball team had its 2012-13 season come to an Saturday in Independence falling 69-59 to Independence Community College in the first round of the Region VI playoffs. With the loss the Jayhawk West’s seventh seed Lady Cougars concludes the season at 13-17 while the Jayhawk East’s second seed Pirates improve to 16-14 and advance to the quarterfinals.
Sophomore Blair Bloomfield led Barton in scoring and rebounding with fourteen points and eight rebounds as she concluded her Lady Cougar career scoring in double figures for the tenth time in her last twelve games. Freshman Ashton Bruner scored thirteen points to go along with six rebounds while sophomore Erin Copeland finished her Barton career with twelve points to reach double figures for the fifteenth time in the last eighteen games.
Sabrina Berry led three Independence players in double digits with seventeen points. Kelby McGrath scored fifteen while DeKendra Ledoux added twelve.
