Second half collapse dooms Lady Cougars in Pratt
After leading by six at halftime, the Barton Community College women’s basketball team suffered a second half collapse in falling to Pratt Community College 68-60 at the Dennis Lesh Sports Arena. The Lady Beavers used a 25-6 run early in the second half to erase an eight point deficit and defeat the Lady Cougars for the third straight time and only sixth in the series history. Barton’s loss drops them to 2-5 in conference play and 12-8 overall while Pratt improves to 2-5 and 13-8 overall. The Lady Cougars return to the Barton Gym on Wednesday for a 5:30 p.m. tilt against Cloud County Community College.
Erin Copeland and Kailai Brantner led three Lady Cougars in double-figures with thirteen points apiece. Blair Bloomfield scored ten and grabbed a team high seven rebounds as Barton was outrebounded twenty-seven to forty-three including giving up seventeen offensive rebounds to the Lady Beavers.
Tatiana Grant led Pratt with twenty points including 10-of-11 from the free throw line as the Lady Beavers outscored Barton by sixteen from the charity stripe. Hayli Jo Smith scored seventeen as she connected on 11-of-14 from the line. Ashri Broadwater rounded out Pratt's double-digit scoring with ten points and collected a team high seven rebounds.
