Barton rolls to easy 82-63 win over Butler in West play
The Barton County Community College women’s basketball team returned to form Monday night in an impressive 82-63 win over Butler County at the Barton County Gym. The Cougars hit 50 percent from the floor and dominated the boards against the Grizzlies in earning the win in Jayhawk West action. With the win, Barton improves to 17-3 overall this season and 5-1 in the West. Butler, receiving votes in the latest NJCAA poll, fell to 15-5 overall and 3-3 in the West. A 3-game week continues for Barton as they take on Hutchinson Wednesday at the Barton Gym then travel to Colby to take on the Trojans. Both tips are set for 6 pm. The game Monday was a make-up from Saturday’s postponed date due to snow. Hutch will bring a 15-4 overall mark and a 3-2 West record to the contest.

Highlights
Barton scored the game's 1st 11 points and never looked back against the Grizzlies. The Cougars made their 1st 7 shots and 9 of 11 to begin the game from the floor in bolting to a 22-8 lead on Butler. The Cougars led by double digits the rest of the half, leading by as many as 19 before taking a 45-29 lead to intermission. In the opening half of action the Cougars shot 53 percent from the floor and out-rebounded Butler 25-16.
The Cougars kept the lead in the from 11-19 nearly all the 2nd half, reaching 20 points with just less than 4 minutes to play. For the game Barton 33-of-66 shots from the floor and out-rebounded the Grizzlies 47-34.
Inga Muciniece led the Cougars with another double-double, posting 16 points and 16 rebounds. She was joined at 16 points by fellow freshman LaToya Jackson, who added 6 assists. Ipek Turkylimaz and DePrice Taylor, also freshman, added 13 each while sophomore Andrea Barber finished with 9 points and a game-high 9 assists. Danae Stucky led 3 Butler players in double figures with 19.
