Barton knocks off No. 15 Eastern Oklahoma, goes 2-0 at Booster Classic
The Barton County Community College women’s basketball team remained unbeaten at home this season by knocking off their 2nd ranked foe at the Barton County Gym Saturday night. Barton defeated No. 15 Eastern Oklahoma by a 72-64 count to move to 6-1 on the season and a perfect 4-0 at home. Friday night Barton defeated Lincoln Land (Ill) College, 88-69, to go a perfect 2-0 at the Barton County Booster Club Classic over the weekend. The Cougars will look to move to 8-1 next weekend when they travel to Coffeyville for the annual Jayhawk ShootOut. Barton will take on Allen County and Fort Scott.

Highlights
The game lead changed hands several times in the contest with each team putting together several 6-8 points runs. The Cougars took the lead for good on a jumper by KG Hellen at the 10:23 mark, giving Barton a 54-53 lead. Barton would lead by 3-5 points most of the remainder of the game with the Cougars largest lead of the contest being the 8-point final margin.
Barton was led by Hellen and Brandi Harris with 15 points each. Stephanie N'Garsnet scored 13 points for the Cougars off the bench and grabbed 8 rebounds as well. Sunshine Uli recorded a double double, posting 10 points and a team-leading 12 rebounds. Yesi Castillo had a 29-point, 15-rebound night to pace the Mountaineers. Eastern Oklahoma fell to 8-3 with the loss.
Friday night Barton used a 12-2 run in the 2nd half to take a big lead in what had been a close game to that point. Barton led 45-40 with 16 minutes to play but over the next 2 1/2 minutes the Cougars pushed the lead to 57-42. The Cougars lead would not be less than double digits the rest of the way the lead reaching 22 points a couple of times. The Cougars put up 49 points in the 2nd half, connecting of 46 percent of their shots after intermission.
Victoria Carlile put her name in the Barton County record books, hitting 7 3-pointers in the contest to pace the Cougars. Her 7 trey breaks the mark of 6 set on 5 different occasions by 3 former Cougars. Sarah Kendrick (2001), Wendy Okeson (2000), and Corey Norman (3 times in 1993 and 1994). Carlile paced the Cougars in the win with 24 points followed by Sunshine Uli with 16 points on 6-of-6 shooting from the inside. KG Hellen added 14 points while Brandi Harris finished with 10 points and 6 assists. ChrisDell Harris led Barton with 7 rebounds.
