Barton rebounds from loss with big wins at Ambassador Classic in Colby
The Barton County Community College women’s basketball team responded from its first loss of the season in a big way, rolling to wins of 61 and 41 this weekend at the Ambassador Classic in Colby. In both contests the Cougars more than doubled their foes output. Barton defeated Brown Mackie by a 104-43 score Friday then knocked off Jayhawk East Independence by a 76-35 score Saturday to finish the Classic with a 2-0 mark. Barton is now 4-1 overall this season. Barton will be back at home for the 1st time since the season-opening tournament when they host the Booster Club Classic Friday and Saturday.

Highlights
Barton had an easy time of it, winning the two games by a combined 102 points. Barton outscored its foes 180-78. By halftime of each contest, the Cougars had taken leads of 28 and 20. The weekend also saw Barton find its shooting touch, hitting better than 40 percent each game and an even 50 percent against Brown Mackie.
In the win over Brown Mackie, Barton was led by Sunshine Misa-Uli with a career 25 points to go along with 10 rebounds for her 5th career double-double – her 1st of the young season. She was one of 5 Cougars to reach double figures Brandi Harris with 13, Stephanie N'Garsanet 12 and 11 each for Maya Onikute and ChrisDell Harris. The 11 for Harris, a freshman, was a career-high as well. Onikute added 9 rebound and 8 assists as well. Barton forced Brown Mackie into 42 turnovers.
The defense was tough again Saturday, holding Independence to just 35 points and 12 field goals. Sophomore transfer Krishunna Hellen scored a career-high 16 points as Harris and Uli added 10 each. Onikute flirted with a triple double once again, leading Barton with 10 rebounds to go with 8 points and 8 assists in just 20 minutes of play.
