Highlights
Barton bolted to a 43-18 lead over the Jets by halftime and had very little trouble with Newman from that point. With several new faces in the lineup for the Cougars, it was a pair of returning sophomores that led the way for Barton. Akia Harmon scored 17 points and Briana Harris added 16 to pace the Cougar attack. Freshman Carly Bloomfield added 9 in her Barton debut.
Harmon and Harris each had 9 rebounds for Barton, as did freshman Chelsia James. James grabbed her 9 boards and scored 6 points in just 9 minutes of action. The Cougars shot a sizzling 53 percent from the floor in the opening half before cooling off to end the game at 45 percent.
