The Barton County Community College women’s basketball team began to find their shot a little too late Wednesday night at the Sports Arena in Hutchinson, losing to Hutch by a 64-47 margin. A rough 1st half put the Cougars in a hole they could not get out off as they fell to 3-10 in the West and 13-14 overall this season. Hutch moved into the 6th spot in the West with the win, improving to 4-9 and 15-11. Barton is currently 8th in the West.

Highlights
The Cougars had troubles scoring in the opening half against the top rated defense in the West. Barton hit just 7-of-25 shots in the opening half for 28 percent and found themselves behind 33-18 by intermission. The Blue Dragons hit 12-of-25 shots in the opening 20 minutes, keyed by a 4-of-6 effort behind the 3-point arc. Hutch's Wendy Fehrenbach was 4-of-4 on 3-pointers.
The Cougars came out in the 2nd half hitting their 1st 6 shots, cutting the lead to 44-34 with 14 minutes to play. The Barton defense then stepped up, holding Hutch to just 4 points over the next 10 minutes to make it a 48-42 game with 4:33 to play. Two more treys by Fehrenbach over the next two minutes put the game away for Hutch as they pulled out to the 17-point win.
Natalie Arndt and Carly Bloomfield each scored 11 points for Barton, followed by Saara Pelttari with 10. Arndt also added 7 assists and Briana Harris grabbed 10 rebounds. Fehrenbach scored 21 to lead Hutch.
