Turnovers, shooting woes hamper Cougar women in loss
The Barton County Community College women's basketball team lost for just the 2nd time this season, falling to Jayhawk East favorite Cowley County Wednesday night at the Barton County Gym. Cowley defeated the Cougars 69-56 to drop Barton County to 5-2 for the season. Cowley County improved to 6-1 overall.

Highlights
Barton trailed most of the contest, but would not let Cowley get too far away from them. The Cougars trailed by double digits in the first half, but cut that lead to 35-30 by intermission despite 11 turnovers.

The 2nd half was much the same with Cowley buildings lead that reached 12, 13 points and Barton cutting it down to 5 or 6. The Tigers were finally able to pull away late for the 13-point win. The turnover woes continued for Barton in the 2nd half, committing 13 more to total 24 for the contest. Another big factor in the game was 3-point shooting. The Cougars, who entered the game hitting 38 percent from floor, took a goose egg in that department going 0-for-7. Meanwhile Cowley County connected on 9-of-23. The Cougars also missed great opportunities from the free throw line, hitting 12-of-22.

Akia Harmon and Rebecca Chapman scored 12 points to pace the Cougars with Natalie Arndt and Carly Bloomfield added 10 each. Harmon also 7 boards while Arndt dished out 4 assists and recorded 3 steals. Arian Scales paced the Tigers with 25 points, hitting 5-of-10 treys.
