Barton women go 1-1 in Hutchinson Tournament
The Barton County Community College women's basketball team went 1-1 over the weekend at the Quarterback Classic held in Hutchinson over the weekend. The Cougars fell Friday afternoon to No. 24 Iowa Western, 68-55, and then rebounded with an easy 72-29 win over the McPherson College JV. Barton is 2-1 on the season.

Highlights
The Cougars struggled shooting the 2nd half against Iowa Western, hitting just 28 percent from the floor. That resulted in just 21 2nd half points after the Cougars put up 34 in the opening half. While the Cougars were struggling as a whole from the field (36 percent for the game) Barton drained 7-of-14 shots from behind the 3-point line. Tarryn Montgomery led the way for the Cougars behind the arc, hitting 3-of-6 shots. Freshman Carly Bloomfield hit 2-of-4 as well. Natalie Arndt led the Cougars scoring attack with 11, followed by Bloomfield with 10. Briana Harris grabbed 10 rebounds. Arndt also had 6 assists.

Against McPherson, the Cougars had very little trouble in recording the win. Barton bolted to an early lead and was up 31-11 at halftime. The Cougars poured in 41 points in the 2nd paced by 18-of-36 shooting from the floor in the half. Akia Harmon led the Cougars with 16 points and 7 rebounds. Bloomfield had another double-digit contest with 10 points. Harris again paced the Cougars on the backboard with 9 rebounds. Arndt added 6 assists and Montgomery 5.
