The Barton County women's basketball team saw its season come to an end Tuesday night in Fort Scott, falling to the Greyhounds, 65-50, in the first round of the Region VI tournament. Barton ends its season at 10-21 while Fort Scott advances to the quarterfinals with a 23-8 mark.

The Barton County women's basketball team saw its season come to an end Tuesday night in Fort Scott, falling to the Greyhounds, 65-50, in the first round of the Region VI tournament. Barton ends its season at 10-21 while Fort Scott advances to the quarterfinals with a 23-8 mark.
Highlights
Barton County led early in the contest at 7-5, but that would be the final lead for the Cougars. Fort Scott quickly took a 20-11 lead and continued to lead the remainder of the contest. By halftime that lead had grown to 34-20. The closest the Cougars would get in the second half was nine points.
Briana Book scored 11 points in her final game as a Cougar to pace Barton County. Sophomore Jenny Brown added 10 in her finale and Tatjana Kiseljova added 10 as well. Melissa Cox grabbed six boards in her final contest.
Kia Dowell led the Greyhounds with 31 points, paced by a 7-for-11 3-point shooting barrage from the sophomore guard. Noni Wharemate added 12 points and 11 rebounds.
