The Barton County women's basketball team fought with the No. 8 ranked in the country for most of the game, but fell to Butler County on the road, 74-55. The loss dropped Barton to 8-19 for the season and 3-10 in the Jayhawk West. Butler is now 9-3 and 23-3.

The Barton County women's basketball team fought with the No. 8 ranked in the country for most of the game, but fell to Butler County on the road, 74-55. The loss dropped Barton to 8-19 for the season and 3-10 in the Jayhawk West. Butler is now 9-3 and 23-3.
Highlights
The game tied at halftime and Barton stayed with Butler for much of the second half as well. But a late surge by Butler pushed the lead to double digits and eventually the 19-point margin.
Briana Book, near her hometown of Emporia, led Barton County with 11 points. The sophomore hit 5-of-8 shots from the floor with several people from Emporia in attendance at the game. Book also had four steals. Jenny Brown added 10 points and eight rebounds.
Butler County was paced by LaDonna Edmondson with 19 points and 10 rebounds. Ena Daniels added 17 points.
Next Up
The Cougars are back on the court Wednesday against another 3-loss team as Hutchinson visits the Hill. The Blue Dragons are 9-3 in the West and 23-3 overall. Tip is set for 6 p.m.
