Anna Voss is in her third year as the assistant softball coach for the Cougars.  In her two years as assistant, Voss has helped the Cougars to a program best 51-8 record this past season following a 2015 season which saw the Cougars win their first Region VI title since 1993.

Working primarily with the pitchers and catchers, Voss’ pitchers have improved each season.  This past season the staff ranked eighth in the nation in strikeouts per seven innings (6.53), ninth in strikeouts (331), tenth best in surrendering walks (68), eleventh in ERA (2.01), sixteenth in earned runs (102).  The staff also limited the success of the opponent’s bats allowing a mere .227 batting average for the third straight year of improvement.

In her first season, Voss cut the 6.21 ERA from 2014 nearly in half to 3.42 in 2015. The 2014 pitching staff averaged 3.45 strikeouts per game, 130 total throughout the season, while the 2015 crew averaged 5.39 strikeouts per game in throwing 279 strikeouts. Voss has also improved the batting averages from the opposition taking a 2014 opponent .377 batting average to only .258 from her 2015 pitching staff.

A former catcher for the Cougars during the 2010-12 seasons, Voss was named Barton’s 2012 Outstanding Graduate while as editor led the school newspaper the Interrobang to a top American Scholastic Press Association newspaper rating in 2012.

Moving on to Fort Hays State University, Voss completed her bachelor’s degree in English and served as an assistant coach at Hays High School where she helped lead the Lady Indians to the 2014 Regional title and berth into the Class 5A State Tournament.    Voss is continuing her education currently pursuing her master’s degree in Health, Physical Education, and Recreation through Emporia State University.
