Bio
Kelcie Kippes is in her first season with the Barton Softball program with primary roles coaching the Cougars’ pitching staff.
A familiar foe against the Cougars having pitched two years at fellow KJCCC member Butler Community College, Kippes continued at Ottawa University before embarking on her coaching career at Barton.
Following a freshman campaign at Butler cut short due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Kippes helped her loaded Grizzly squad to a 5th place national finish. Earning a KJCCC Pitcher of the Week honor along the way, Kippes made three starts in her 28 appearances for a 2.29 ERA in 49 innings, striking out 38 and earning a pair of victories. Kippes hurled three starts in eight games of her shortened freshman season, striking out five in her thirteen total innings.
Moving on to Ottawa University, Kippes evolved into a two-way threat for the Braves in earning All-KCAC honors both of her seasons played.
As a senior Kippes was named an All-KCAC Honorable Mention pitcher, earning a KCAC Pitcher of the Week honor during her 25 appearances. Making 24 starts, Kippes compiled a 3.28 ERA with ten complete games in hurling a 13-4 record with two shut outs in striking out 63 in 119.1 innings. At the plate, Kippes hit .288 (15-52) with a .558 slugging percentage and .362 on-base percentage in drawing 6 walks, connecting on 3 doubles, a triple, and 3 home runs in crossing the plate 12 times.
Kippes’ initial four-year level competition concluded as an All-KCAC Honorable Mention selection as a designated player hitting .270 with a .490 slugging percentage belting 5 doubles, a triple, 5 home runs, and 21 RBI. Registering a .333 on-base percentage, Kippes drew 10 walks with 3 stolen bases in accounting for 20 runs on the season. In the center circle, Kippes made 14 appearances with five starts finishing the year 4-3 with a 2.76 ERA and 24 strikeouts in her 38 innings pitched.
Native of Rossville, Kansas, Kippes had an active and decorated high school career, lettering in volleyball, cheer, dance, and softball helping the Dawgs to four straight league championships and a Kansas State Runner-Up finish. A four-time All-MEL selection, Kippes earned First Team honors as a junior and senior, as well as, was a two-time First Team All-State selection.
