Barton Softball’s Enslinger and Ingram sweep KJCCC weekly awards.
Chloe Enslinger and Meleia Ingram of the Barton Community College softball team has been named the Week Six KJCCC Player and Pitcher of the Week respectively.
The honor marks the second straight sweep of the awards for the program, Ingram named back-to-back from her performance in the circle while Enslinger picks up her first award of the sophomore's career.
The duo helped Barton run-rule three of their four conference games against Garden City and Dodge City last week in getting off to a an 8-0 record in the early KJCCC.
Ingram struck out 14 batters in 11 innings this past week to earn a pair of the victories. Throwing four innings with three strikeouts in Barton's five-inning victory at Garden City, the reigning conference pitcher of the week followed with an 11-strikeout performance Sunday against Dodge City to tie her career high in strikeouts. The freshman improved to 6-2 on the season while leading the conference at 9.24 strikeouts per game on 33 strikeouts in her four league victories.
Enslinger batted .700 out of the clean-up position of the lineup during the four games increasing her league lead in home runs by belting four fence clearers with 12 runs driven in. The sophomore catcher from Derby, Kansas, began the week with three of her five hits leaving the yard against the wind with nine RBI at Garden City before concluding the week this past Sunday by going two-for-four with three RBI, including a no-doubt solo shot to help Barton sweep Dodge City.
Most recently Ingram picked up the game one victory at Division 2, No. 23 Cowley College by striking out seven in the six innings of the 15-3 win improving to 7-2 on the season. Enslinger just played the first game of the twinbill sweep going 2-of-3 including connecting on her 7th home run of the year while driving in 3 runs.
Victors of ten straight, Barton stands at 13-5 on the season returning to conference play with a 1:00 p.m. first pitch at Pratt Community College. The Cougars then embark on a three-date homestand next week beginning on Monday hosting Neosho County Community College followed by conference games on Wednesday versus Fort Hays Tech Northwest followed by Saturday's hosting of 14th ranked Butler Community College. First pitch slated for 1:00 p.m. for all mentioned contests.
