Twelve games deep into the schedule, the Barton Community College softball team got to enjoy home field for the first time on Saturday with the Cougars splitting results with Colby Community College in conference action.

Barton scored in all but one inning to take game one 10-7 with the Trojans' salvaging the doubleheader winning 12-9.

The KJCCC result leaves Barton at 4-2 in league and 6-8 overall with Colby remaining at .500 moving to 4-4 and 8-12 on the season.

Barton remains at home for its next contest coming on Wednesday hosting current league leader Seward County Community College (4-0, 8-8) in a 1:00 p.m. first pitch doubleheader.

Getting a career high nine strikeouts from Brooklynn Angielski improving to 4-4 on the year, the Cougars collected 12 hits lead by the 3-of-4 performance of Elina Bartlett including the freshman's first collegiate home run leading off the fourth frame sparking a then-game tying three-run frame.

Bartlett followed the opener going 2-of-5 in the nightcap with three more runs batted in, a pair crossing on a bases loaded single with the third capping a four-run rally as the Cougars would strand the tying run at the plate.

Leslie Ramos joined Bartlett with a pair of multiple hit games, collecting two in each contest and adding a pair of stolen bases.

In addition to Bartlett's solo home run in game one, Barton chalked up another pair of solo shots in the final seventh inning. Mikaila Herring led off the frame with her second of the season as one out later, pinch hitter Shea Afrey drilled essentially the same spot beyond the left center fence launching the sophomore's first round tripper.

Barton went through three pitchers trying to slow down Colby's game two fifteen hit attack, Aly Lawrence taking the loss slipping to 1-1 on the year with Bartlett working 2.2 innings as Alicia Goseland pitching to one batter in getting the final out of sixth frame.
