Barton Softball splits at NOC-Tonkawa #GoBarton

The Barton Community College softball team split its Friday contests at Northern Oklahoma College-Tonkawa by taking the opener 9-2 but dropping the finale in nine innings 12-11.

The Cougars led throughout game one by scoring three in the third and putting the game out of reach with a 5-run seventh frame while holding the Mavericks to just five hits.

With both teams playing through mid-30 degree temperatures and sustained 15mph north winds, game two was a seesaw affair including a combined six runs in the seventh and three in the ninth as NOC-Tonkawa salvaged the doubleheader.

Now 2-4 on the year, Barton continues the travel south down I-35 for a Saturday 1:00 p.m. twin bill at Northern Oklahoma College-Enid.

Barton pounded out a combined 29 hits on the day led by Lani Dryden's 6-of-7 out of the No. 9 hole of the lineup and Chloe Enslinger's 6-of-10 with four runs batted in. Ally Lawrence also contributed four RBI including her first collegiate double driving in a pair getting the Cougars out front 3-0 in game one.

In the circle Brooklynn Angielski pitched 9.2 innings on the day, seven coming in the opener in scattering five hits and ringing up a career high seven strikeouts to earn her first collegiate victory.
