The Barton Community College softball team dropped a pair of conference games in El Dorado Wednesday 7-2 and 8-1 at 20th ranked Butler.

Jaysa Anderson's leadoff seventh inning double broke up the game one no-hit bid in being followed by Jenna Henderson's shutout spoiling home run as Butler's Allyson Montgomery struck out fourteen in the complete game victory.

Butler got out to a three-run lead in game two before Henderson's fourth inning solo shot was one of just four Barton hits as Butler again got a strong pitching performance to complete the sweep.

The losses along with Colby's pair of wins on Wednesday, drop the Cougars into fourth place of the conference standings at 18-10 and 25-20 on the year while Butler keeps pace for the league title with a second place 22-4 mark improving to 33-10 overall.

Barton will have a week away from competition before hosting Dodge City in its 1:00 p.m. home finale on Wednesday, April 26, then wraps up the regular season slate Saturday, April 29, at Northwest Kansas Technical College.

Henderson not only accounted for each of Barton's three runs but two of the team's six hits on the day, the game two solo blast her 7th of the season and third straight game of clearing the fence.

Doing double-duty in the first game, Henderson took the loss dropping to 5-10 with four strikeouts in getting little help from offense nor her defense committing three errors.

Montgomery improved to 18-3 for Butler behind the big strikeout performance and not allowing a runner past first base until the seventh inning.

Syndi Williams, who tried to help her own game two cause going 1-for-2 and drawing a walk, took the circle loss dropping to 4-2 as again the defense committed another three miscues.

The Grizzlies' Emma Koeneke stymied the Cougars to four hits, striking out eleven improving to 11-5.
