The Barton Community College softball team took care of Northwest Kansas Technical College Saturday afternoon at Cougar Field in a pair of five-inning rule victories 17-0 and 21-7.

The Cougars scored in each of their four at-bats in the opener, getting a season high twelve strikeouts from Jessica Morgan before plating 12 first inning runs in game two to cruising to the sweep.

Barton improves to 11-3 in conference play and 17-12 on the season while Northwest Tech continues to search for its first win in dropping to 0-16 in league and 0-20 overall.

The Cougars continue their home stand on Monday in a 2:00 p.m. non-conference hosting of Cowley College before returning back to conference play on Wednesday against Garden City Community College in a 1:00 p.m. first pitch.

Morgan's season high twelve punchouts marked the third straight game of eleven or more strikeouts, winning her seventh straight improving to 7-2 on the year.

Three Cougars had perfect plate appearances in the twinbill, Halie Stoneking and Laci Dryden each going 4-for-4 while Sydni Williams was 3-for-3.

Lani Dryden led the Cougars' 34 hits with five, going 5-of-7 from the No. 9 spot of the lineup with two RBI's.

Six Cougars had multi-hits in game one including Leslie Ramos driving in the Cougars' first run of the game before driving in two more in the Cougars' five run third inning.

Williams collected two of her three hits in game one, driving in two on a second inning double before sending roommate Calli McConnell's third inning single trotting around the bases on her 7th home run of the year to cap her four RBI game.

Jaysa Anderson extended her hit streak in a first at-bat RBI triple to later follow Williams' third frame fence clearer with her 7th dinger for the back-to-back roundtrip celebration.

In addition to the performance in the circle, Morgan also went 2-for-3 at the plate, a single in the second before connecting on her second collegiate homerun with a fourth inning two-run yard shot capping the Cougars' 17 runs.

Barton sent sixteen to the plate in the first inning with twelve crossing the dish.

Stoneking's leadoff double extended her consecutive hit streak to 18 games, later driving in a run in her second at-bat to conclude her day.

Mikaila Herring drove in a run on her first collegiate double in being followed by Makenzie Haslett's RBI double putting the Cougars up 5-0.

The Mavericks helped the big inning with five walks in the frame as the Cougars' McConnell delivering the big blow with a one-out grand slam for her 7th home run of the year pushing the lead to eleven.

Drawing a walk in her first at-bat, Williams followed McConnell with a single extending her consecutive game streak to seven.

Like Williams, Kayden Smith also drew a walk in her first at-bat in pushing across a run then in her second at-bat laced her first triple of the year driving in Williams to cap the twelve run opening inning.

A second inning leadoff walk by Haslett followed by Lani Dryden's single and Laci Dryden's one-out RBI got Barton's five run second inning started. Loading the bases on McConnell's reach on a fielder's choice, Cameron Pelzel cleared the bags on her first collegiate home run in grand slam style pushing the lead out to 17-0.

Anderson followed with a single, extending her consecutive game streak with a hit to 22 straight on her 1-for-3 game two performance after going 2-for-3 in the opener.

Three Maverick solo home run runs spoiled KayLee Richardson's shutout in the third frame but the Cougars got the runs back in the home half by plating four.

Laci Dryden drove in the first to complete her 3-of-3, two RBI performance with Kayla Beers delivering her first collegiate RBI coming on a bases loaded groundout as Pelzel followed in capping her six RBI performance with a two-run producing double.

The Mavericks plated two runs in each of their final two at-bats, including their fourth homerun of game two coming with one-out in the top of the fifth frame.

Richardson picked up the victory improving to 1-1 on the year behind three innings of work, Julia Carey working the final two frames.
